What a privilege it was to work with my ASSAf colleague and SPU Director, Susan Veldsman, Executive Officer Prof Roseanne Diab, Cameron Neylon, and high level representatives from South Africa on an Open Science Statement, contributing to the White Paper for Science and Technology in SA! Having an Open Science Policy (which will include OA), would be like a dream come true for me ….

Open Research South Africa: high-level stakeholder meeting on Open Research, 12 December 2016

This a major development and indicative of the determination of SA, research institutions and scientists to embrace the benefits of the digital revolution and open approaches to research.
